ARGANS is a small, independent company of scientists and software developers based in Plymouth; our clients include the European Space Agency (ESA) as well as the European Commission. We are currently involved with Copernicus missions Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3, the Earth Explorer SMOS mission and Horizon2020 Space projects.
Summary of the role:
We are currently recruiting a Junior Earth Observation Scientist to provide technical and scientific support across a number of our projects, including but not limited to SMOS, CoReSyF, Sen2Coral, Sentinel-2&3 and RESMALI. This is a varied role so candidates should be highly motivated with a passion for science and engineering and be able to work independently using your own initiative to satisfy client requirements in a timely and efficient manner. You will need to be comfortable working within a team which is part of a larger consortium and is often spread throughout Europe and therefore have excellent communication skills.
This is a developmental position, so if you have a BSc or post graduate qualification in Remote Sensing, Oceanography, Geography or other related field and have a high level of computer literacy and working knowledge of optical remote sensing/marine optics, we would love to hear from you!
Previous experience of working within a Linux environment and some programming skills would be beneficial, but training can be provided.
This is a full time position (40 hours per week) located in our Plymouth offices in South Devon. All employees are:

Primary role and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to larger European EO activities and projects, including data processing and analysis, software development, calibration and validation activities and quality control of both satellite and in-situ data.
