Project Description
The European Space Agency (ESA) has commissioned this project to explore the legal and technical frameworks that underpin the cloud computing environment. Information services are undergoing a major change due to rapid technological developments. Cloud computing is a central element of broadening the use of satellite imagery, such as Earth Observation data (EO), for scientific, social and economic purposes. This research aims to identify potential impediments to upscaling commercial use of this data. Recognising these challenge and looking for potential solutions will have implications beyond the EO community.
