Coral Bleaching Detection & Monitoring from Space
Project Description
Coral reefs mortality changes, which are strongly influenced by the El Nino phenomenon, are accurate markers of the Global Warming. ARGANS' objectives within ESA's SEOM Coral Monitoring Program are the scientific exploitation and validation of the Sentinel-2 Multispectral Instrument (MSI) for mapping (habitat, bathymetry, and water quality) and change detection for coral reef health assessment and monitoring, and developing open source software dedicated to utilising Sentinel-2 capabilities to satisfying these objectives and making them available within the community SNAP toolbox.
